Overview

Karakoram Valley

Hunza sits at the meeting point of three of the world's great mountain ranges — the Karakoram, the Hindu Kush and the Himalayas. Terraced fields of apricot and cherry trees climb the valley walls beneath Rakaposhi's 7,788-meter face, while centuries-old settlements like Karimabad and Altit hold onto a way of life shaped by trade routes, Silk Road caravans and some of the friendliest hospitality you'll find anywhere in Pakistan.

Most journeys use Karimabad as a base — walkable, centrally located, with Baltit Fort watching over the valley from above — before branching out to Attabad Lake, the Hunza Suspension Bridge, and the high-altitude drama of the Khunjerab Pass further north.
